The Oye Alebiosu Foundation for Women’s Health, a charity working to preserve the physical and mental health of people with lived experience of domestic violence and abuse – and the people who support them – is launching a new initiative this Friday.
The Foundation recently received funding from Comic Relief, via GMCVO, to create an online support network, and personal development coaching, for leaders and members of ethnic minority groups supporting women with lived experience of domestic violence and abuse. The new network, Help The Helpers, will launch today at 2pm with an online event.
Dr Omolade Femi-Ajao, the Founder and Director of the Foundation and a member of GM4Women2028’s Safety Group, says “Supporting others with lived experience of abuse has an emotional impact – especially as these support providers may not be trained in dealing with domestic violence. And of course, COVID-19 has added to the stress that everyone is experiencing. We hope this network will help these providers of support to look after their own health; improve the support they are able to offer; and ultimately help to keep women safe.”
The Oye Alebiosu Foundation provides seminars, workshops, trainings, and coaching sessions. To find out more about the Foundation and the Help The Helpers project, come along to the online launch event this Friday: click here to register.
