Bolton event delivers powerful momentum for Greater Manchester's equality agenda

Full house of attendees engage in meaningful action-focused discussions on women's safety, health, employment and political representation

GM4Women's inspiring 'Dialogue, Deeds & Determination' event took place on (Saturday 12th July 2025) at Imagination Street in Bolton, drawing a capacity crowd of over 100 wome
n, girls and male allies united in their commitment to accelerating gender equality across Greater Manchester.
The day-long event, which ran from 10.30am to 4.00pm, saw exceptional attendance and participation from engaged attendees taking part in dynamic discussions, interactive workshops and meaningful networking opportunities that translated data insights into concrete action plans.
Highlights from the day included:
The presentation of GM4Women's 'Half-Way There' report, which documents the story of how and why GM4women came about, the experiences of those involved and what the data has highlighted.
A powerful plenary session on 'Responding to Domestic Abuse - Local Innovations in Practice', showcasing ground-breaking approaches being implemented across the region to support survivors and prevent abuse.
An engaging 'Diversity in Democracy' panel discussion hosted by Helen Pankhurst CBE, featuring Bolton North East MP Kirith Entwistle, Councillor Hanif Alli and Councillor Akhtar Zaman which explored practical strategies for increasing women's engagement in political processes.
Four intensive workshops covering Safety, Employment, Health and Education Data, where attendees collaborated on solutions and shared experiences across these critical areas affecting women and girls in Greater Manchester.
Moving poetry readings and storytelling performances by local artists that brought personal experiences to the forefront of the equality conversation.
Helen Pankhurst CBE, Convenor of GM4Women said: "Yesterday's event in Bolton perfectly embodied the spirit of 'Dialogue, Deeds & Determination'. We had a full house of passionate individuals who didn't just listen – they actively participated, shared their experiences and committed to concrete actions."
The event concluded with final reflections, performances and celebrations that reinforced the collaborative spirit and determination to continue driving change across Greater Manchester.
