The Corinthians - We Were The Champions documentary screening – There are showings at HOME in Manchester on Thursday 2nd April, Sunday 12th April and Tuesday 28th April, so make sure you get your tickets while you still can. Buy tickets on the HOME website.
GM4Women2028’s monthly community meeting – On Tuesday 7th April from 1.00pm to 2.00pm online via Google Meet, collaborate and join our ongoing fight for gender equality. Attend meeting.
Christabel Pankhurst Lecture 2026 – Taking place on 29th April, 4.00pm to 6.00pm, Roscoe Building, University of Manchester, this year’s lecture, “PUSHing for Justice: Women, Power and the Unfinished Fight for Equality,” will be delivered by I. Stephanie Boyce CBE FKC, a trailblazing legal leader, equality advocate, former President of the Law Society of England and Wales, and the first person of colour and first Black President in the organisation’s history. 🎓 Express an interest in the Leading for Legacy programme
Leading for Legacy 2026 is now accepting expressions of interest. This 9 month civic and community leadership programme, delivered by Flourish Together CIC with diverse partners, is backed by all 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).
This pioneering initiative is designed to empower diverse leaders from global majority backgrounds across Greater Manchester, equipping them with the skills, networks and confidence to thrive in civic and public leadership roles.
What is the programme?
Leading for Legacy is a high-level civic leadership programme for both current and future leaders from diverse backgrounds across Greater Manchester. Funded by the GMCA and delivered by Flourish Together and wider partners, the programme runs from June to December 2026, featuring:
5 in-person programme days.
3 online sessions.
A graduation day.
Access to wider leadership opportunities and an evolving alumni network.
How to express an interest?
Expressions of interest for the programme are now open. Please visit the Flourish Together website to complete the form by midday on 30th April. Participants will be selected by an independent decision making panel and will be notified by 22nd May.
📍 Take advantage of a job opportunity at the Portico Library
The Portico Library, one of GMWomen2028’s supporters, is seeking an Interim Collections Librarian to assist the stewardship and public engagement of its nationally significant historic library collection in Manchester.
Founded in 1806, the Portico Library holds more than 25,000 rare books, archives and manuscripts. Applicants should be passionate about connecting historic books and archives with communities, readers and researchers.
This hands-on role will lead on research access, cataloguing, book display and collections care at an exciting moment for the Portico Library as it progresses Portico Reunited, its £11 million restoration project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Based in Manchester city centre, contracted for 17½ to 21 hours per week (0.5–0.6 FTE), salaried at £32,000 pro rata for a 10-month fixed-term contract term, interested individuals are invited to apply by 5.00pm on Monday 13th April.
