❤️ Support Greater Manchester’s cancer screening
Answer Cancer’s Bee Seen, Get Screened pledge is a free initiative encouraging organisations to create supportive workplaces where employees can attend vital cancer screening appointments. Early diagnosis saves lives, yet screening uptake in Greater Manchester remains below the national average, with many people citing work commitments as a barrier to attending appointments.
By signing the pledge, organisations commit to supporting staff to attend screening appointments, raising awareness of cancer screening, and promoting a culture that prioritises health and wellbeing. More than 190 organisations across Greater Manchester have already joined the movement, supporting over 146,000 employees. Find out more on the website, drop an email to emily.lambert@vsnw.org.uk for a quick chat and sign the pledge. Thank you for considering this important initiative.
💙 MACS fundraising challenge supports women and girls at risk
On 11th July, Male Allies Challenging Sexism (MACS) founders Chris and Björn will be taking part in the Morecambe Cross Bay Walk to raise funds for One Woman At A Time (OWAAT), a charity that supports women and girls affected by forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM) and domestic abuse.
The MACS team is aiming to raise £200 in addition to the event booking fee, with funds helping to provide practical support and opportunities for women and girls, including access to refuge accommodation, education, reusable sanitary wear and skills training.
Supporters can contribute directly to OWAAT or donate through MACS, with all funds raised going towards the charity’s work. If you'd like to support the fundraiser or find out more about OWAAT and the impact of its programmes, please visit the charity’s website and learn more about the women whose lives have been transformed through its support.
